The File Integrity tab configures the file integrity checker, which detects modifications to your Joomla files by comparing cryptographic hashes against a stored baseline.
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Hash Algorithm | SHA1 | The cryptographic hash function used to generate file fingerprints. Options: MD5 (faster, slightly lower collision resistance) or SHA1 (recommended). |
| Path Exceptions | (empty) | Paths to exclude from integrity checks, one per line. Common candidates include the cache, tmp, and logs directories, and user-generated content directories that change frequently. |
| Look for Malware | Yes | When enabled, the integrity scan also checks files for known malware patterns (the same signatures used by the Malware Scanner). This allows a combined integrity-and-malware scan in a single pass. |
| Move to Quarantine | No | When enabled, files detected as malicious during the integrity scan are automatically moved to a quarantine directory. Use with caution: false positives can break your site if legitimate files are quarantined. |
| Send Email on Wrong Integrity | Yes | When enabled, an email notification is sent to the site administrator when modified files are detected. |
| Email Subject on Wrong Integrity | (empty) | The subject line for the integrity alert email. Leave empty to use the default subject. |
